WHER EAS; the State Fish and Game Department desires to pursue the rehabllita-
tion of Bear Lake to enhance the SILVER SALMON production; and
WHEREAS; the SILVER SALMON production and rehabilttation program is to the
best interest of sport fishing am commercial fishing in our area am we urge that
the Red Salmon production of Bear Lake be limited until it has been thoroughly
proven that they will not adversely effect the Silver Salmon;
NOW, nIEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City CouncU of The City of Seward,
Alaska, that the proposed program of the Fish am Game Department for the re-
habilitation of Bear Lake be pursued for purposes of improving the production of
Silver Salmon which has become a major economic factor for the area am which
will continue to become greater in future years; am
BE IT FURnIER RESOLVED, that the City supports the position of the Seward
Fish am Game Advisory Committee, Unit #7, as stated in their letter dated
July 5, 1968, and the position of the Seward Clamber of Commerce as stated in
their letter of July 1, 1968.
That copies of the Resolution be forwarded to The Honorable Walter J. Hickel,
Governor of The State of Alaska, am to Mr. Augle Reetz, Commissioner of Fish
and Game Department, am Mr. Sid Logan, Area Biologist tor the Fish am Game
Department, Seward, Alaska.
This Resolution to become effective upon date of passage and approval.
Passed and approved by the City Council of The City of Seward, Alaska, this 8th
day of July, 1968.
