COUNCIL AGENDA STATEMENT
Meeting Date: December 13, 2004
Through: Phil Shealy, City Manager
From: Rick Gifford, Assistant City Manager
Agenda Item: Calendar Year 2005 Legislative Priorities
BACKGROUND & JUSTIFICATION:
Each year the City Council approves resolutions listing the City’s federal and state legislative
priorities. These lists help the Council, administration and the City’s lobbyists when discussing City
projects with the various federal and state legislators and agencies. The various projects listed have
come from last year’s projects, projects recommended by the lobbyists and from discussions with
Council in previous meetings and work sessions.
Attached is a copy of an email from our federal lobbyist, Brad Gilman with his recommendations for
rd
federal legislative projects. Mr. Gilman has recommended five projects, one of which is the 3
Avenue waterline upgrade. However, in further discussions, it was determined that the federal
funding time-line would be too late for construction this summer.
