RESOLUTION 2004-126
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT NOT TO EXCEED $5,712 FOR
CHANGE ORDERS SUBMITTED BY SWENSON CONSTRUCTION
REGARDING THE POLICE DEPARTMENT DISPATCH AREA REMODEL,
REFERENCE RESOLUTION #2004-63
WHEREAS, the City Manager was authorized by council to enter into a Contract with
Swenson Construction to remodel the Police Department dispatch area; and
WHEREAS, the remodel required three (3) change orders totaling $5,712; and
WHEREAS, this additional work could not be foreseen when the contract was awarded, and
became required for successful completion ofthe project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA that:
Section 1. The City Council authorizes payment to be made to Swenson Construction on the
change orders in the amount not to exceed $5,712.
Section 2. Funding is available from Grant Funds 651-6512.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 14th day of
December.

Agenda Item: Authorize payment of $5,712 to Swenson
Construction for Change Orders regarding the
Police Department Remodel, reference Resolution 2004-63.
BACKGROUND & JUSTIFICATION:
The City Manager was authorized by council to enter into a Contract with Swenson Construction to
remodel the Police Department Dispatch area for an amount not to exceed $83,811.
Three change orders were required for successful completion of the project. These were for work
that was unanticipated during the bidding process.
The change orders are as follows:
Change Order 1: $3,264. Clean up low voltage wiring in ceiling of dispatch area. Move
two light fixtures in radio room.
Change Order 2: $528. 5'x8' concrete pad for new condenser unit.
Change Order 3: $1,920. Ventilation to 3 additional offices. Supply ventilation into an
additional 3 office spaces that were not in original scope of work.
This work is described as supply and return air connecting to the
newly installed ducts in the original scope of work. This new duct
work will include new ceiling diffusers and return grills.

Council approve Resolution’s 2004-126, to pay Swenson Construction $5,712 for change orders on
work completed regarding the dispatch remodel contract, reference resolution 2004-63.
