SE\'/AIID CITY COU1JCIL HESOLUTION NO. 863
Relating to planning, platting and zoning
powers by ordinance for first class
cities
BE IT HESOLVED BY THE SE'dAIID CITY COUNCIL:
w}lliREAS the Seward City Council believes that, in the best interest of
competency, diligency, and expeditious execution of planning, platting and
zoning matters, first class cities should, by ordinance, have the right under
Alaska state law to retain those powers; and
WHFJtEAS the Alaska Municipal League's Boar~ of Directors has decreed
that any suggestions to be considered by the League's Legislative Committee must
be submitted to the League office at least thirty (30) days prior to October
23rd; and
~I'1IEREAS Part One of the Alaska Hunicipal League' s Legislative
Committee's 1973 Prelirninary Policy Statement, relating to Municipal Legislative
Progrmns, is deficient in this pararr~unt necessity,
BE IT RESOLVED that it is the will of the Seward City Council that
said Legislative COITillQttee is respectfully re~lested to prioritize the following
with Part One of the Alaska Municipal League's Legislative Program:
MUNICIPAL Pu\NNING, PLATTING AND ZONING AUTHOFJTY - To support
legislation authorizing first class cities to undertake by ordinance, powers and
functions relating to planning, platting and zoning.

2 6 endorse, prioritize, and lend official support to such legislation.
