ITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 77-1
A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING
THE JANUARY 25, 1977 BOND ISSUE
FOR KENAI PENINSULA BOROUGH SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION
WHEREAS, the population of the Kenai Peninsula has grown
perceptively in the last few years, and
WHEREAS, this growth has also been noticeable in school
enrollments throughout the school district and Kenai Peninsula, and
WHEREAS, the proposed facilities at Anchor Point, Tustumena and
Sterling Elementary schools will alleviate crowded conditions and
replace presently used portables, and
WHEREAS, the Homer JuniorlSenior High School complex has
classroom space, vocational instruction areas and science areas that
are greatly inadequate, and
WHEREAS, the enrollment of high school students in the North
Kenai, Kenai, Soldotna and Sterling areas will increase dramatically
in the immediate future due to the present enrollment in the area
elementary and junior high schools, and
WHEREAS, anticipated Peninsula growth and proposed industrial
developments can only accentuate a serious enrollment situation,
especially in the Central Peninsula area,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Seward, Alaska, wholly supports the Bond Issue to be placed
before the voters on January 25, 1977, in the amount of $19,819,000
for school construction on the Kenai Peninsula.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, this 10th day of January , 1977.
