HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrd1997-006 I I I Sponsored by: Plannin!! & Zoning Commission Introduction Date: January 27 1997 Public Hearing Date: February 10 1997 CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA ORDINANCE NO. 97-06 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AMENDING THE ZONING OF NINE ORIGINAL TOWNSITE LOTS ALONG FIRST AND SECOND AVENUE FROM SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL TO URBAN RESIDENTIAL WHEREAS, Debra Hafemeister, Steve Lemme, Lucky Wilson and Mark Holland have submitted an application and the required $250 filing fee requesting that Lots 4, 5, 13, 14, 29, 30 and 31, Block 13, and Lots 29 and 30, Block 14, Original Townsite of Seward, be rezoned from Single Family Residential (Rl) to Urban Residential (UR) in conformance with the Land Use Plan; and WHEREAS, the UR district was established in response to a recommendation included in the 1990 Comprehensive Plan Update to allow a higher density of mixed residential uses from detached single family housing to multi-family apartments in conjunction with compatible low impact professional office uses in the area surrounding the downtown business district; and WHEREAS, within the subject area there currently exists two single family homes with attached apartments, a single family residence with a home occupation, and a single family residence which has been used to provide seasonal employee housing; and WHEREAS, a goal of the Seward Comprehensive Plan is to "maintain Seward's Land Use Plan as the primary local tool to ensure quality community land use arrangements, growth and development to the year 2010;" and WHEREAS, at its December 10, 1996 adjourned meeting, the Planning and Zoning Commission held a public hearing on the request; and WHEREAS, at its January 10, 1997 adjourned meeting, the Commission recommended the proposed Zoning Map amendments set forth in this ordinance; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA HEREBY ORDAINS that: Section 1. The Official Seward Zoning Map is hereby amended by changing the zoning designation of Lots 4,5, 13, 14,29,30, and 31, Block 13, and Lots 29 and 30, Block 14, Original Townsite of Seward, from Single Family Residential to Urban Residential in conformance with the Land Use Plan. CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA ORDINANCE NO. 21:.Q.6. Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days following its enactment.
