CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
ORDINANCE NO. 97-14
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AMENDING THE LAND USE PLAN AND ZONING OF THE
EAST Yz OF THE NORTHWEST v.. OF SECTION 1, TOWNSHIP 1 SOUTH,
RANGE 1 WEST, SEWARD MERIDIAN, LOCATED AT 1815 NASH ROAD
AND IDENTIFIED AS KENAI PENINSULA BOROUGH TAX ASSESSOR
NO. 145-170-02, FROM RESOURCE MANAGEMENT TO INDUSTRIAL
WHEREAS, on March 3, 1997, Tim McDonald and Eleanor McDonald submitted an
application and the required $250 filing fee to rezone a portion of the E\t2 of the NWv.. of Section 1,
TIN, Rl W, Seward Meridian, to Industrial; and
WHEREAS, according to the Kenai Peninsula Borough, the current owner of record of this
particular parcel is Alaska Barge and Salvage, and Eleanor McDonald is its vice president; and
WHEREAS, the present zoning and land use plan designation of this 37.57 acre site is Resource
Managernent(~); and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the ~ district is to identify lands which are generally
undeveloped and cannot be precisely zoned due to inadequate information regarding the extension
of public services and utilities; the suitability of the land to support commercial, residential, industrial
or public uses; and/or other environmental considerations; and
WHEREAS, past and current use of the northwest portion of this property fit the character
of the Industrial Zoning District; and
WHEREAS, the southern half of the parcel is a vacant, wooded area that is currently unused;
and
WHEREAS, at its April 2, 1997 meeting, the Planning and Zoning Commission conducted
a public hearing and voted to recommend the proposed Land Use Plan and Zoning Map amendments
as set forth below;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
HEREBY ORDAINS that:
Section 1. The Official Land Use Plan Map and Zoning Map are hereby amended by
changing the land use and zoning designation of the E\t2 of the NWY4 of Section 1, TIN, Rl W,
Seward Meridian, further identified as Kenai Peninsula Borough Tax Assessor No. 145 -0 1 7 -02, from
Resource Management to Industrial.

Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days following its enactment.

12th day of May, 1997.
