CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 92-017
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, SUPPORTING THE
ESTABLISHMENT OF A LEGISLATIVE INFORMATION OFFICE IN SEWARD
WHEREAS, Seward is an active community whose service area comprises more
than 5,200 persons; and
WHEREAS, the only direct link between the citizens and the Alaska State
Legislature is a volunteer teleconference site which is connected to the Legislative
Information Office located in Valdez; and
WHEREAS, under the current arrangement Seward has no access to the BASIS
computer system, thus further restricting its access to legislative information and
communication; and
WHEREAS, Seward is planning several large capital projects including a new
hospital building which require close contact with the legislature; and
WHEREAS, improved communication between the citizens of Seward and the
Legislature would be mutually beneficial;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. the City of Seward urges the Alaska State Legislature to authorize and
provide funding for the establishment and operation of a Legislative Information Office
in Seward.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this
10th day of February, 1992.
