CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 92-039
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF
A VEHICLE FOR THE ELECTRIC DEPARTMENT AND
WAIVING BID PROCEDURES
WHEREAS, Phase I-A of the transmission line project is scheduled to begin
construction on May 15, 1992; and
WHEREAS, the city's engineering firm, Dryden & Larue, has hired an inspector
for this phase of the project to insure that construction specifications are followed and
to act as a liaison between the contractor and the city; and
WHEREAS, it is anticipated that this service will result in cost savings for the city
as well as insure that the construction of the line is to high standards and within the
quoted bid amount; and
WHEREAS, the inspector will require a vehicle, and time is of the essence in
acquiring the needed vehicle; and
WHEREAS, Public Works Foreman Ainsworth has secured quotes from local and
statewide dealers and has determined that the 1992 Ford 1 Ton 4x4 offered by Cal
Worthington Ford best suits the city's current and future needs; and
WHEREAS, Ainsworth also solicited quotes for the installation of a service bed for
the vehicle and has recommended that the city select the bed offered by Omaha Service
Bodies; and
WHEREAS, funds are available within the transmission line grant to cover the
purchase and modification of the vehicle;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. In accordance with Section 6.10.130 of the Seward City Code, the
Council hereby finds that the public interest would be best served by waiving
competitive bidding for the purchase of a new vehicle for the city Electric Department.
Section 2. The City manager is hereby authorized to issue a purchase order to Cal
Worthington Ford in the amount of $25,278 for the purchase of a 1992 Ford I-ton 4x4 to

include the installation of a service bed from Omaha Service Bodies and painting
following modifications.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this
23rd day of March, 1992.
