Sponsored by: Schaefermeyer CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION NO. 92-044 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, DETERMINING THAT THE ANNEXATION OF APPROXIMATELY 5,375 ACRES WITHIN THE SEWARD MERIDIAN VALLEY IS IN THE PUBLIC INTEREST AND DIRECTING THE ADMINISTRATION TO FILE A PETITION FOR ANNEXATION WITH THE LOCAL BOUNDARY COMMISSION WHEREAS, the Seward City Council has considered the question of the annexation of those lands generally identified as the Meridian Valley from Nash Road to and including Bear Lake into the city of Seward; and WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is likely that future growth and development of the city, both residential and industrial, will occur within this territory, and annexation of the territory will enable the city to plan for and control that development beginning at this time; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: Section 1. It is in the public interest to annex those lands described in Attach- ments 1 and 2, attached and incorporated herein by reference, into the city of Seward. Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to prepare a petition to effect this annexation in accordance with 19 MC 10.070, 19 MC 10.480, 19 MC 10.490 and 19 MC 10.510, and to file this petition with the Local Boundary Commission for action. Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 13th day of July, 1992.
