CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 92-074
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR OSHA-MANDATED
HEPATITIS B VACCINATIONS FOR AFFECTED CITY EMPLOYEES
WHEREAS, the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
has adopted a standard to protect workers from exposure to bloodbome pathogens such
as Hepatitis Bj and
WHEREAS, the federal OSHA regulation has been adopted by the State of Alaska
Department of Laborj and
WHEREAS, it is the duty of employers to provide the opportunity for routinely
occupationally exposed employees to participate in a Hepatitis B vaccination p~ogram at
not cost to the employeej and
WHEREAS, the city administration has determined that the most cost-effective
means to administer this program is to purchase the vaccine from the Merck Company
and to have the Public Health Nurse administer the vaccinej
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The sum of Five Thousand Three Hundred Ninety Three Dollars and
Twenty-five cents ($5393.25) is hereby appropriated from the General Fund fund balance
Account No. 101-3070 to the Fire Department budget, Account No. 101-1220-5790 for the
purpose of acquiring Hepatitis B vaccine from the Merck Company for the provision of
a Hepatitis B vaccination program for involved personnel.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this
11th day of May, 1992.
