A RESOLUTION OF TIm CITY COUNca OF TIm CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AWARDING A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES
AGREEMENT TO OGDEN BEEMAN & ASSOCIATES TO PERFORM
A CRUISE SHIP DOCK FEASmlLITY STUDY AND AUTHORIZING
TIm CITY MANAGER TO SOLICIT PROPOSALS FOR BATHYMETRIC
STUDIES FOR PROPOSED DOCK FACILITY SITES
WHEREAS, the City Council approved Resolution No. 92-130, designating the B Street
location for the dock facility, and Resolution No. 92-026, including the B Street Dock project
as a priority in the 1992 Capital Improvement Plan; and
WHEREAS, the City has committed to the University of Alaska that a moorage for their
new vessel could be provided by 1995 when the vessel is scheduled for delivery; and
WHEREAS, the COlpS of Engineers has issued a permit to build a fixed dock facility
based on a concept developed by Peratrovich, Nottingham & Drage (PN&D), Engineers, at the
B Street location; and
WHEREAS, suggestions have been made to change the fixed dock location proposed for
B Street to a floating dock and to reconsider locating the dock facility from B Street to Ballaine
Point; and
WHEREAS, both locations and design concepts have merit and deserve study and
consideration on the part of the city; and
WHEREAS, the city has received a proposal from Ogden Beeman & Associates to
perform economic studies to determine if the Ballaine Point Location is feasible for a cruise ship
dock; and
WHEREAS, bathymetric studies are necessary to enable the engineers to select the most
accessible and least costly location for planned dock facilities;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNca OF TIm
CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to award a professional service
contract to Ogden Beeman & Associates, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $50,000 to provide
a cruise ship dock feasibility study.

Section 2. The City Manager is further authorized to solicit proposals to complete
bathymetric surveys to determine the final location of the proposed new dock
facilities.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this
14th day of December, 1992.
