RESOLUTION NO. 93-059
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING SEWARD FOREST
PRODUCTS TO EXTRACT GRAVEL FROM FOURTH OF JULY CREEK
WHEREAS, Seward Forest Products has requested permission to extract gravel
from Fourth of July Creek utilizing its own equipment and staffj and
WHEREAS, in the past, the city has advertised and sold gravel from the creek for
a price of $0.50 per cubic yardj and
WHEREAS, there has been no gravel extraction from the creek for several years,
and extraction of gravel at this time will assist the city in its flood control efforts at Fourth
of July Creek;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. Seward Forest Products (SFP) is hereby authorized to extract up to
25,000 cubic yards of gravel from Fourth of July Creek, provided that all work is done in
compliance with the approved maintenance plan and any stipulations by regulatory
agencies, including the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, and that SFP construct an
additional finger dike as described in the maintenance plan.
Section 2. No fee shall be charged for the extraction of the gravel.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this
10th day of May, 1993.
