RESOLUTION NO. 93-122
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
ENTER INTO AGREEMENTS WITH THE U. S. FOREST
SERVICE FOR ECONOMIC RECOVERY PROJECTS
WHEREAS, the city sponsored four grant applications to the USDA Forest Service
to receive funding from the Economic Recovery Programj and
WHEREAS, these grants were sponsored to provide financial assistance for
construction of projects including handicapped accessible public toilets at the Chamber
of Commerce Visitors Center and development of the Qutekcak Oyster Nursery projectj
and
WHEREAS, funds were awarded to Kenai Peninsula Guided Hikes for advertising,
promotion, operating and training expenses for guided hiking services in the Seward and
Moose Pass areaSj and
WHEREAS, the Seward Parks and Recreation Deparbnent will receive funds to
provide interpretive signs at public facilities pertaining to local history and wildlifej and
WHEREAS, the city will administer the grants for the above mentioned projectsj
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into agreements with the
USDA Forest Service for funding of the following projects:
Handicapped Accessible Public Toilets
Qutekcak Oyster Nursery Hatchery
Kenai Peninsula Hikes
Seward Interpretive Signs
$12,500.00
20,000.00
7,000.00
8,000.00
Section 2. Each individual agency will be responsible for providing matching
funds and project costs.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this
23rd day of August, 1993.
