CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 93-139
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, DESIGNATING A DUCK HUNTING
AREA WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 93-27 provides that the Council may, by resolution,
designate certain areas within the city limits for duck hunting; and
WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has recommended that such duck hunting be
limited to the area commonly referred to as the duck flats;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. In accordance with Seward City Code ~ 10.10.030, a shotgun may be
discharged in the following described area for the purpose of taking water fowl except
as noted in Section 2, below:
All privately-owned tidal flats at the Head of Resurrection Bay between the west
boundary of the Seward Airport and the East channel of Resurrection River.
Section 2. Within the area described above, it shall be unlawful to discharge a
shotgun at any point which is within 100 yards of a residential or commercial structure
or a maintained street or highway.
Section 3. Within the area described above, it shall be unlawful to discharge any
firearm other than a shotgun using a steel shot size no larger than Number 2.
Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this
27th day of September, 1993.
