RESOLUTION NO. 93-174
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, ADOPTING THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT
PROJECTS PRIORITY LIST FOR THE 1994 LEGISLATIVE SESSION
WHEREAS, the administration has provided the capital project priorities list for
the 1994 State Legislative session; and
WHEREAS, it was determined that replacement of the Seward General Hospital
facility remained one of the City's top legislative priorities proposed for legislative
funding; and
WHEREAS, it was determined that construction of Phase I of the proposed multi-
purpose dock located off Ballaine Boulevard remains a top priority; and
WHEREAS, Phase I of the dock project would provide space for the UAF-IMS
arctic research vessel and the Alaska Marine Highway System's MIV Tustumena and
provide a new cruise ship berth to serve the increasing number of large cruise ships
visiting Seward as a destination point; and
WHEREAS, the existing floats in the southern half of the Small Boat Harbor basin
and the existing harbor electrical service represent a serious safety need and require
replacement; and
WHEREAS, the city desires to construct a fire station in the harbor area to equalize
response distance from the present station to the city limits and to meet accepted
standards and the present location presents a safety hazard for emergency response and
parking of equipment; and
WHEREAS, certain other projects are considered necessary for the health and
safety, community development and economic development of the community;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The attached list of capital improvement projects, incorporated herein
by reference, is hereby declared to be the official Capital Improvement Projects priority
list for the City of Seward for the 1994 Legislative Session.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
