CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 96-144
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AWARDING NEGOTIATION RIGHTS
TO CERTAIN BOARDWALK LEASE PROPOSERS
WHEREAS, the City of Seward issued a formal request for proposals from parties interested
in entering into long term leases with the City for development of certain Small Boat Harbor
Boardwalk Lease Sites; and
WHEREAS, the City received eight proposals for long term lease of the seven available
sites; and
WHEREAS, the proposals were evaluated by City staff in accordance with the criteria
previously approved by the City Council; and
WHEREAS, five of the submitted proposals met the criteria approved by the Council and
have been recommended by the administration to receive an exclusive right to negotiate a long term
lease on a boardwalk site; and
WHEREAS, the administration has further recommended that the City Council not pursue
long term leases with the Lion's Club or the Seward Chamber of Commerce at this time, but that
their current leases be allowed to run until they expire in 2000 and 2002, respectively;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. An exclusive right to negotiate a long term lease agreement for a boardwalk lease
site is hereby awarded to each of the following proposers for the lease site indicated below:
Site No. 1
Alaska Adventure Center, Kenai Fjords Tours
Site No. 2
Major Marine Tours
Site No. 3
Aurora Charters
Site No. 4
Renown Charters
Site No. 5
Richard and Linda Worabel
Section 2. Upon conclusion of the negotiations, the long term lease agreements will be
presented to the City Council for public hearing and action.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
