CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 91-017
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROPRIATING FY91 SALES TAX
REVENUES FOR THE PURPOSE OF MAKING A CONTRIBUTION
TO THE SEWARD CHAMBER OF COMMERCE IN SUPPORT OF
VISITOR PROMOTIONS
and
WHEREAS, tourism is a major industry for the city of Seward:
WHEREAS, the cities within the Kenai Peninsula Borough, as
part of their annual operating budget, fund promotional programs to
attract visitors to their communities; and
WHEREAS, the city of Seward has not provided funds for visitor
promotions for several years: and
WHEREAS, the Seward Chamber of Commerce is actively involved
in a number of promotional programs which will accrue to the
benefit of the citizens of Seward by attracting an increased number
of visitors to Seward, thereby supporting Seward's economy: and
WHEREAS, the city of Seward has recognized increased sales tax
receipts, in part due to growth in tourism: and
WHEREAS, the Seward City Council finds it in the public
interest to support the activities of the Seward Chamber of
Commerce in promoting Seward as a visitor destination:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The sum of Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000)
is hereby appropriated from Sales Tax Revenue Account No. 101-0000-
4120-0100 to the Chamber of Commerce contribution Account No. 101-
1189-5610.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward,
Alaska, this 11th day of February, 1991.
