CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 91-028
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, URGING STATE FUNDING FOR
THE DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF AN ENHANCED
911 EMERGENCY SYSTEM FOR THE KENAI PENINSULA BOROUGH
WHEREAS, the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly has assumed the
responsibility for emergency 911 telephone service for all borough
communities: and
WHEREAS, a report submitted by Public Safety Associates
recommends enhancement of the current 911 system to include a
centralized system for taking calls and a detailed mapping and
addressing system for the borough: and
WHEREAS, this enhancement is necessary for the protection of
life, safety and property of borough residents: and
WHEREAS, the Kenai Peninsula Borough has requested state
funding of this system and for the work required to develop the
system: and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the citizens of Seward
to endorse the borough's request for funding:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The Alaska State Legislature is urged to provide
funding to the Kenai Peninsula Borough for the development and
implementation of an enhanced 911 emergency system.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the city council of the city of Seward,
Alaska, this 25th day of March, 1991.
