CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 97-131
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE AWARD OF SALE OF LOTS 17 AND 18
BLOCK 22 ORIGINAL TOWNSITE OF SEWARD TO BILL HEARN
WHEREAS, the adopted Seward Municipal Lands Management Plan recommended that
vacant, developable parcels excess to the city's present and anticipated public needs be sold; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 96-112 a) authorized the city manager to dispose of specified
parcels of surplus property by sealed bid, b ) determined that the public interest would be served by
not having the properties appraised prior to the sale and c) established minimum bid amounts; and
WHEREAS, Ordinances No. 97-09 and No. 97-10 declared certain tax foreclosed properties
included in Resolution No. 96-112 as surplus and authorized the disposal of property; and
WHEREAS, appropriate public hearings were held in accordance with the city code; and
WHEREAS, an Invitation to Bid was published in the Seward Phoenix Log, Anchorage Daily
News and the Peninsula Clarion each week for four consecutive weeks July 3rd through July 24th;
and
WHEREAS, the city received multiple acceptable bids, each accompanied by a deposit of not
less than 20% of the bid amount, for each of the properties included in the sale; and
WHEREAS, Bill Hearn is the apparent high bidder on Parcel # 14 - Lots 17 and 18 Block 22,
Original Townsite of Seward, for a sum of $33,000,00 which exceeds the minimum bid of
$10,640.21;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to execute the attached Quitclaim Deed,
incorporated herewith by reference, for the sale of Lots 17 and 18 Block 22, Original Townsite of
Seward, to Bill Hearn for the sum of$33,000,OO,
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect thirty (30) days after passage and posting as
required by law,

QUIT CLAIM DEED
THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, an Alaskan municipal corporation, P.O. Box 167,
Seward, Alaska 99664, by its authorized officer, for and in consideration of the sum ofTEN and
NO/loo ($10.00) DOLLARS AND OTHER VALUABLE CONSIDERATION, and pursuant to City
Council Resolution No. 96-112 adopted August 26, 1996 and 97-131 adopted September 8, 1997,
and City Ordinance 97-010 adopted April 14, 1997, does hereby quitclaim and convey unto
WILLIAM J. HEARN, JR., a single person, receiving mail at P.O. Box 2612, Seward, Alaska
99664, the following described real property:
Lots Seventeen (17) and Eighteen (18), Block Twenty-Two (22), Original Townsite of
Seward, according to Plat No.1 in the Seward Recording District, Third Judicial
District, State of Alaska.
Subject to easements and reservations of record.
