CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 90-067
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR A
NEW WATER WELL IN THE FORT RAYMOND WELL FIELD
WHEREAS, the City Council appropriated $50,000 in the 1990
budget for construction of a new well in the Lowell Canyon area;
and
WHEREAS, engineering studies indicate it is unlikely a
dependable high capacity production well can be constructed in the
Lowell Canyon area or that the existing hospital well can be
economically improved to meet increased demand; and
WHEREAS, well test logs show that the aquifer serving the Fort
Raymond well field has the capacity to support another high
capacity well, and the frequent tests of the water confirms it is
of excellent quality and not contaminated; and
WHEREAS, the increased demand for water during fish processing
season exceeds the capacity of existing wells, and at full fish
production with all wells operating at maximum capacity, it may be
necessary to limit water or, in the event of a pump failure, to
curtail production; and
WHEREAS, an engineering firm experienced in design and
construction of wells recommends locating a new 1,000 gallon
production well in the Fort Raymond well field and estimates the
cost to be $90,000;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The sum of Ninety Thousand Dollars ($90,000) is
hereby transferred from The General Fund Balance Transfer Account
No. 101-0000-3070 to the Water/Sewer Fund Transfer Account No. 701-
0000-3070.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect July 1, 1990.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward,
Alaska, this 25th day of June, 1990.
