CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 91-111
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROPRIATING FUNDS AND
AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR THE PURCHASE OF OIL-
FIRED BOILERS FOR SEWARD GENERAL HOSPITAL
WITHOUT FULL UTILIZATION OF THE COMPETITIVE
PROCUREMENT PROCEDURES
WHEREAS, the heating system at Seward General Hospital has
failed; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative that the system be repaired or
replaced immediately in order to assure the health and safety of
patients of the hospital; and
WHEREAS, Seward Plumbing and Heating is the only provider of
heating systems in the Seward area;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The sum of $27,407.00 is hereby appropriated from
the General Fund Fund Balance Account No, 101-3070-0280 to the
Seward General Hospital Boiler Capital Repair Account No. 280-3070
for the purpose of purchasing two oil- fired boilers for the
hospital.
Section 2. The City Council finds that it is in the public
interest to waive standard city bid requirements for the purchase
of the referenced boilers as an emergency makes the delay incident
to competitive bidding unreasonable.
Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to issue a
purchase order in the amount of $26,102.00 to Seward Plumbing and
Heating for the purchase and installation of two oil-fired boilers
for Seward General Hospital.
Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward,
Alaska, this 9th day of September, 1991.
