CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
ORDINANCE NO. 98-09
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA,
AMENDING SEWARD CITY ZONING CODE ~15.10.140 DEFINITIONS, ~ 15.10.215
PARKING, AND ~ 15.10.225 LAND USES ALLOWED
WHEREAS, as times change, and the needs of the community change so should city
ordinances; and
WHEREAS, as conflicts between ordinance provisions are discovered the city code should
be adjusted to remove those conflicts; and
WHEREAS, on July 1, 1998 and August 18, 1998 the Seward Planning and Zoning
Commission held public hearings and recommended the following amendments to the Seward City
Code.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
HEREBY ORDAINS that:
Section 1. Amend SCC ~15.10.140 Definitions as follows:
Hotel. A facility offering transient
lodging accommodations to the general public on a daily rate where access to all sleeping rooms is
through a main entrance and which may provide food, entertainment, meeting rooms, recreational
facilities or various personal services. Includes lodges and inns.
Motel. A buildin , or group of detached or connected buildings,
and parking conveniently located on the premises, which are designed
primarily to offer sleeping accommodations, with or without meals, to the motoring public on a daily
rate. Includes designations such as motor lodges, auto courts, tourist courts and similar terms.
Dwelling: Unit. A building or separate portion thereof containing kitchen, living, sleeping
accommodations and at least one bathroom and designed to be occupied exclusively as a residence
by one family.

Section 2.
Amend SCC ~15.10.215 Parking B. By adding the following:

Section 4.
Amend SCC ~15.10.225 Land Uses Allowed by adding the following new
subsection.
Section 5. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days following its enactment.
ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, this
14th day of September, 1998.
