HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes1992-004 Sponsored by Schaefermeyer CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 92-004 A RESOLUTION OF THE SEWARD PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION, RECOMMENDING THAT THE CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZE THE CITY ADMINISTRATION TO PROCEED WITH A PETITION FOR ANNEXATION OF APPROXIMATELY 5,375 ACRES ALONG THE SEWARD MERIDIAN VALLEY BETWEEN THE NASH ROAD AND BEAR LAKE AREAS WHEREAS, the Alaska Statehood Act provided for the future growth and develop- ment of local communities through municipal entitlement programsj and WHEREAS, because of the long range needs of the community, the city of Seward continues to support state and borough entitlement selections of National Forest lands contiguous to the cityj and WHEREAS, it is inevitable that long range future community growth and develop- ment, residential, industrial and recreational, will occur within this territory proposed for annexationj and WHEREAS, the incorporation of this territory will enable the City to plan for and control that development. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Seward Planning and Zoning Commission that: Section 1. It recommends that the City Council authorize and direct the city administration to prepare a petition to effect the annexation of lands described in Exhibit I, incorporated herewith by reference, in accordance with 19 AAC 10.070, 19 AAC 10.480, 19 AAC 10.490 and 19 AAC 10.510, and to file this petition with the local Boundary Commission for action. Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. PASSED AND APPROVED by the Seward Planning and Zoning Commission this 1st day of April, 1992.
