PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION
RESOLUTION NO. 93-006
A RESOLUTION OF THE SEWARD PLANNING AND ZONING
COMMISSION, RECOMMENDING APPROVAL OF PROPOSED ORDINANCE
NO. 93-07, AMENDING THE LAND USE PLAN AND ZONING DISTRICT
FOR PORTIONS OF BLOCKS 7 AND 8, ORIGINAL TOWNSITE OF SEWARD
WHEREAS, on March 25, 1993, the City Council introduced an ordinance amend-
ing the Land Use Plan to change the designation of Lots 7-25A, Block 7, and Lots 17-19,
Block 8, Original Townsite, from Urban Residential to Central Business District and to
simultaneously rezone Lots 7-25A, Block 7, Original Townsite, from Auto Commercial
(AC) to Central Business District (CBD); and
WHEREAS, expansion of the CBD eastward along Railway Avenue to Ballaine
Boulevard will accommodate anticipated service industry growth associated with the
proposed Alaska Sea Life Center development; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the City Code, the Planning and Zoning
Commission must hold a public hearing and submit written recommendations to the City
Council;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Seward Planning and Zoning
Commission that:
Section 1. Proposed Ordinance No. 93-07, amending the Land Use Plan to change
the designation of Lots 7-25A, Block 7, and Lots 17-19, Block 8, Original Townsite, from
Urban Residential to Central Business District and to simultaneously rezone Lots 7-25A,
Block 7, Original Townsite, from Auto Commercial (AC) to Central Business District
(CBD), is recommended for enactment by the City Council.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the Seward Planning and Zoning Commission this
7th day of April, 1993.
