HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes1996-012 Sponsored by: Staff CITY OF SEWARD PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 96-12 A RESOLUTION OF THE SEWARD PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION, RECOMMENDING THAT THE CITY COUNCIL AMEND THE LAND USE PLAN AND ZONING FOR LOTS 1-16, BLOCK 8, ORIGINAL TOWNSITE OF SEWARD TO CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT WHEREAS, property owners of the above listed parcels have initiated a land us plan and zoning change for the above titled properties to Central Busines District; and WHEREAS, the existing land use plan designation is Urban Residential and the present zoning of the subject property is Auto-Commercial; and WHEREAS, the existing Central Business District is located to the south, east and west of the subject area; and WHEREAS, land use plan and zoning changes may be initiated by petition of a majority of the property owners in the area to be amended; and WHEREAS, the appropriate public hearing as required by Seward City Code !i 15.01.040 was conducted by the Commission on July 10, 1996. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Seward Planning and Zoning Commission that: Section 1. The attached proposed ordinance, incorporated herein by reference, is forwarded to the City Council for adoption. Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA &/tL- Blaine Bardarson, Chairman Sponsored by: Planning & Zoning Commission CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA ORDINANCE NO. 96- AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AMENDING THE SEWARD LAND USE PLAN AND ZONING FOR LOTS 1-16, BLOCK 8, ORIGINAL TOWNSITE OF SEWARD TO CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT WHEREAS, property owners of the above listed parcels have initiated a land use plan and zoning change for the above titled properties to Central Business District; and WHEREAS, the present zoning of the subject property is Auto-Commercial and the existing land use plan designation is Urban Residential; and WHEREAS, land use plan and zoning changes may be initiated by petition of a majority of the property owners of the area to be amended; and WHEREAS, the existing Central Business District is contiguous with the subject area to the south, east and west; and WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Commission approved Resolution No. 96-12 recommending the code amendments included in this ordinance. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA HEREBY ORDAINS that: Section 1. The Seward Land Use Plan is hereby amended as follows: A. The Land Use Plan designation for Lots 1-16, Block 8, Original Townsite of Seward is changed from Urban Residential to Central Business District. Section 2. The Seward Zoning Map is hereby amended as follows: A. The Zoning designation for Lots 1-16, Block 8, Original Townsite of Seward is changed from Auto-Commercial to Central Business District. Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days following its enactment. ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, this * day of *, 1996.
