CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
ORDINANCE NO. 592
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, AMENDING SECTION 20-3(B) OF THE CITY
CODE TO ALLOW THE ADMINISTRATION TO ISSUE VEHICLE
FOR HIRE PERMITS WITHOUT THE PRIOR APPROVAL OF
THE CITY COUNCIL
WHEREAS, Chapter 20 of the Seward City Code very
specifically sets forth the requirements which must be met
before a vehicle for hire permit can be issued; and
WHEREAS, if all requirements set forth in City Code
Chapter 20 are met by an applicant for a vehicle for hire
permit, the City Council has no choice but to issue the
requested permit; and
WHEREAS, the provision in Section 20-3(b) of the City
Code which requires Council approval once all code pro-
visions have been met and prior to the issuance of the
• permit is burdensome for the administration and needlessly
lengthens the application process for the permittee;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, HEREBY ORDAINS that:
Section 1. Section 20-3(b) of the Seward City Code is
hereby amended to read as follows:
(b) An application for a vehicle for hire
permit shall be granted by the clerk if the appli-
cant complies with subsection (a) of this section
[and if said permit is authorized by the affirma-
tive vote of the city council].
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10)
days following its enactment.
