CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
ORDINANCE NO. 630
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AMENDING SECTION 9.15.110 OF THE SEWARD
CITY CODE, ADOPTING THE UNIFORM FIRE CODE, 1988 EDITION
WHEREAS, paragraph 9.15.110 of the Seward city Code references
the 1985 edition of the Uniform Fire Code; and
WHEREAS, the International Conference of Building Officials
and the Western Fire Chiefs Association has published the 1988
edition of the Uniform Fire Code; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Chief has recommended that the City
reference the most current edition of the Uniform Fire Code as its
code of technical regulation, with minor amendments regarding water
supplies for fire protection systems and inspection of
extinguishing systems;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
HEREBY ORDAINS that:
Section 1. Section 9.15.110 of the Seward City Code is hereby
amended to read as follows:
9.15.110 Uniform Fire Code adopted.
A. The 1988 edition of the Uniform Fire Code and
Appendices II-C, III-A, III-C, V-A and VI-B published by
the International Conference of Building Officials and
the Western Fire Chiefs Association, is hereby designated
and shall be known as the Seward Fire Code, and shall
constitute the laws of the city related to fire
prevention. Although not published in full in this
section, all of the provisions of the Uniform Fire Code
and the appendices cited above shall be and are hereby
adopted by reference to the same extent as if set forth
in full herein, except to the extent that the Uniform
Fire Code is amended by or in conflict with this code or
any relevant ordinance later adopted, in which case the
provisions of this code shall prevail.
B. The following amendments are made to the Uniform
Fire Code in its application as the Seward Fire Code:
Division III, Installation and Maintenance of
Fire Protection, Life-Safety Systems and
Appliances
Sec. 10.301.(c) - Reference in paragraph one

to "150 feet" is changed to "250 feet"
Sec. 10.314.(e) - Reference in paragraph two
to "six months" is changed to "twelve months"
C. The City Clerk is directed to keep on file at least
three copies of the Uniform Fire Code, 1988 edition, for public
use, inspection and examination.
section 2. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days
following its enactment.
