CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
ORDINANCE NO. 93-06
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AMENDING SEWARD CITY CODE
~ 15.10.215,PARKING
WHEREAS, in light of proposed developments and public input relating to on-
going management plans, there appears to be a need to review off-street parking
requirements relating to housekeeping, inclusion of uses not otherwise listed, and
modification of requirements in relation to community needs; and
WHEREAS, the problems associated with harbor parking indicate a need to
establish parking needs for harbor basin users and day cruise/charter operations separate
from the needs of upland support businesses;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA HEREBY ORDAINS that:
Section 1. The reference to "Old Airport Road" in ~ 15.1O.215(A) is amended to
read "Port Avenue."
Section 2. ~ 15.1O.215(B)(1)(c) is amended to read:

Section 3. ~ 15.1O.215(B)(3) is amended to read:
3. Offices

1 parking space for each

Section 4. A new item is listed under the following section:

B. For each principal building or use within a principal
buUding, there shall be no less than the number of off-street
parking spaces specified under this section:

Section 5. ~ 15.10.215(E) is amended as follows:
15.10.215 E. Location. All required parking shall be on
the same lot as the principal use served; on abutting lots; or
if it is determined to be impractical to provide parking on the
same or abutting lots, by conditional use permit on lots
within 600 feet by the shortest pedestrian route or greater
unspecified distances if served by an established scheduled
vehicle shuttle service. Separate or abutting parking lots are
allowed provided that such lots are permitted as a principal
or conditional use within the zoning district. Such abutting
or separate lots shall be under the same ownership as that of
the principal use being served, and there shall be a recorded
agreement approved by the city, which provides for parking
requirements for the life of the principal use being served.
Section 6. ~ 15.1O.215(P) is amended as follows:

~ 15.10.215 P. Group use of lots. Where more than one
tenant or use is included within anyone building or on any
one lot, the parking requirements shall be the sum total of the
parking requirements for all the various tenants or uses. The

within the definition of "shopping center" in order to become
entitled to utilize the parking ratio specified in ~ 15.10.215
B.5.a. Where a hotel or motel has other principal uses such
as restaurants, bar, and meeting rooms located on its premis-
es, the principal use requiring the greatest amount of parking
shall provide 100% of the required parking spaces and the
other uses shall provide, in addition, at least 70% of the
parking spaces which would be required if these were stand-
alone uses.
Section 7. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days following its enactment.
ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, this
12th day of April, 1993.
