CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
ORDINANCE NO. 94-22
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, REPEALING THE BED TAX
WHEREAS, the lodging industry has requested that the City Council adopt a
visitor impact assessment fee to be paid by hotel, motel and B&B owners rather than
implementing the bed tax established by Ordinance No. 93-30; and
WHEREAS, a referendum petition seeking repeal of the bed tax has been filed and
certified as sufficient by the City Clerk; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council to accept the lodging industry's
compromise and spare the expense of a special election to determine the fate of
Ordinance No. 93-30;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA HEREBY ORDAINS that:
Section 1. Ordinance No. 93-30, which created Seward City Code Chapter 5.40
and established a five percent hoteVmotel room tax, is hereby REPEALED.
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days following its enactment.
ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, this
11th day of April, 1994.
