CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 98-121
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, APPROVING THE CITY MANAGER'S APPOINTMENT OF
DAVID SQUIRES AS FIRE CHIEF
WHEREAS, the Fire Chief position was opened for recruitment within the City employees
and acting Fire Chief, David Squires, applied for and has been offered the position; and
WHEREAS, 92.20.015 requires the City Manager's selection for the Fire Chief position
receive approval from the City Council; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Squires is an asset to the City's administration team, the Fire Department,
and the Community; and
WHEREAS, in addition to serving as Acting Fire Chief since December 1997, he has been
the Deputy Fire Chief since October 1984; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Squires has more than 25 years of experience in the firefighter/fire safety
field and his certifications include: UFC Fire Inspector; UBC Plan Reviewer; UBC Building
Inspector; Emergency Medical Technician; and many others too numerous to list;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. Council approves the City Manager's appointment of David Squires as Fire Chief
effective October 13, 1998.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Seward, Alaska, this 12th
day of October, 1998.
