AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2.000 (BUILDINGS) OF THE SEWARD GENERAL
CODE OF ORDINANCES BY ADDING THERETO SECTIONS 2.200 oAND 2.201 RELATING
TO A BUIWING CODE.
The City of Seward. Alaska, ordains:
That Section 2.000 (BUILDINGS) of the Seward General Code of
Ordinances be amended by adding the following sections:
Section 2.200 BuildinR Code
The Uniform Building Code of the International Conference of Building
Officials, in its latest edition and as latest amended, is hereby desig-
nated and shall be known as the Building Code for the City of Seward.
Alaska, and shall constitute the laws of the City of Seward, Alaska
relating to building regulation. Although not published in full in this
ordinance, all of the provisions of said Uniform Building Code shall be
and are hereby adopted by reference to the same extent as if set forth in
full herein, except to the extent that the said Uniform Building Code
shall be in conflict with this ordinance or any relevant ordinance later
adopted, in which case the provisions of the ordinance shall prevail.
The City Clerk is directed to keep on file at least three copies of
the Uniform BUilding Code, in its latest edition together with any and
all amendments thereto, for public use. inspection and cxamination. so
long as the provisions thereof remain in force.
Section 2.201 Penalties for Violation
(a) It shall be unlawful for any person. firm or corporation to
erect, construct. enla.rge. alter. repair. move. remove. improve.
convert, demolish or equip any building or structure in the City, or
cause or permit the same to be done. contrary to or in violation of any
of the provisions of the Uniform Building Code adopted and incorporated
as the Seward Building Code by Section 2.200 of the Seward General Code
of Ordinances.

(b) Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions
of the said City of Seward Building Code shall be guilty of a. misdemeanor,
and each such person, firm or corporation shall be deemed guilty of a
separa.te offense for each and every day or portion thereof during which any
violation of any of the provisions of the said City of Seward Building Code
is committed, continued or permitted, and upon conviction of any such
offense, such person, firm or corporation shall be punished by a fine of
not more than Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00). or by imprisonment of such
convicted person or persons for not more than thirty (30) days. or by
both such fine and imprisonment.
Publication of this ordinance shall be made by posting a copy hereof
on the City Hall Bulletin Board for a period of ten (10) days fOllOWing
its passage and approval.
