AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NUMBER 84, BEING "~~ ORDINANCE
RELATING TO THE USE OF THE PUBLIC HIGHWAYS AND REGULATION OF VEHICLE
TRAFFIC IN THE TOWN OF SEWARD, PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION
THEREOF, AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT THEREWITH, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES," BY AD~ING SECTION 5-A
THERETO, PROVIDING FOR THE LICENSING OF MOTOR VEHICLES OPERATED OR
DRIVEN UPON THE PUBLIC STREETS OF THE TOWN OF SEWARD.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMllON COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF SEWARD:
Section 1. That Ordinance Number 84 of the town of Seward,
being "An Ordinance Relating to the Use of the Public Highways and
Regulation of Vehicle Traffic in the Town of Seward, Providing Penalties
for the Violation Thereof, and Repealing all Ordinances and Parts of
Ordinances i::1 Conflict Therewith, and for Other Purposes," be, and the
same hereby is, amended by adding thereto and as a part thereo~ Section
5-A, as follows:
Section 5-A. LICENSING OF MOTOR VEHICLES. Every owner of
a motor vehicle which shall be operated or driven upon the public
streets of the town of Seward shall for each motor vehicle owned,
cause to be filed with the city clerk of the town of Seward an
application for a license for such vehicle. Such application shall
be made by the owner of the motor vehicle or his duly authorized
agent over the signature of such owner or agent, and shall give the
name and address of the owner, the trade name of the Motor vehicle,
and the model, year, type of body, and factory and motor numbers
thereof. With such application the applicant shall deposit a
license fee of Five ($5.00) Dollars. The city clerk, upon receipt
of such application, accompanied by the required fee, shall place
the original application on file in his office and thereupon issue
to such applicant a license for such motor vehicle authorizing the
use of such vehicle upon the public streets of the town of Seward
for and during the term mentioned in the application therefor.

All motor vehicle. license. under this ordinance shall expire
December 31st of each year, and shall be renewed annuallY in the
same manner and upon payment of the same fee as prOVided for
original licenses, such renewal to take effect on the 1st day of
January of each year.
Anything herein to the contrary notwithstanding, if application
for a motor vehicle license is made during the period beginning on
the 1st day of July and ending on the 31st day of December in any
year, one-half only of such annual fee of Five ($5.00) Dollars
shall be paid.
The license fee required under this ordinance to be paid upon
a motor vehicle shall become delinquent forthwith upon the use or
operation of any such vehicle upon the public streets of the town
of Seward without the license fee required by this ordinance first
having been paid to the city clerk, accompanied by the application
for license, as hereinabove provided. It is hereby provided, in
addition to any and all other penalties provided by this ordinance,
that if at the expiration of ten days after the license fee becomes
delinquent as aforesaid, such fee has not been paid and application
filed, a penalty of One ($1.00) Dollar shall be added to the amount
of said license fee.

Upon the transfer of ownership of any motor vehicle liQensed
under the provisions of this ordinance, the person in whose name
such vehicle is licensed, and the transferee, shall join in a
statement of such transfer, in writing, giving the date of such
transfer and signed by both such persons, endorsed upon the reverse
side of the lioense theretofore issued for said vehicle, and shall
present the same to the city clerk, who shall thereupon issue a
new license for such motor vehicle in the name of such transferee.
The term "motor vehicle" whenever used in this ordinanoe
shall include all vehicles or maohines propelled by any power other
than muscular, used upon the streets for the transportation of
persons, freight, produce or any commodity, except traction engines,
temporarily upon the streets, road rollers or road-making machines,
and vehicles that run upon rails or tracks.
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effeot and be in force
from and after the 1st day of January, 19~ and shall be pUblished onoe
in the Seward Daily Gateway.
