RESOLUTION NO. 95-031
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROVING A CONTRACT WITH STORM
CHASERS, INC., TO REPAIR X FLOAT AND THE DRIVE
SUPPORT PILING AT THE NORTHEAST LAUNCH RAMP AND
APPROPRIATING FUNDS
WHEREAS, "X" Float was damaged by a vessel during the spring of 1994; and
WHEREAS, because of delays and resistance on the part of the vessel's insurance carrier,
repairs were not accomplished during the 1994 construction season; and
WHEREAS, "X" Float received additional damage during a recent series of spring storms;
and
WHEREAS, both the vessel Pacific Sun's insurance carrier and the City's insurance
carrier will reimburse a portion of the cost of repairing the float system; and
WHEREAS, the external floats for the northeast launch ramp are now ready for
placement in the water; and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to add the driving of support piling for the launch ramp to
the contract for repairs to "X" Float in order to take advantage of the lower cost of doing both
projects while the pile driver is on site; and
WHEREAS, this project (northeast launch ramp) is part of a grant the City received from
the Alaska Department of Fish and Game and the cost of the work will be reimbursed through
the grant; and
WHEREAS, the City received timely bids for the two projects from three contractors; and
WHEREAS, Storm Chasers, Inc., submitted the low bid, and the contractor has been
determined by the City to be a responsible bidder;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The sum of $30,350 is hereby appropriated from the Harbor Enterprise Fund
Retained Earnings Account No. 401-0000-3050 to Special Project Account No. 401-4001-5390-
401A.

Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to award a contract to Storm Chasers,
Inc., in an amount not to exceed $48,990 to complete the repair of "X" Float and to drive support
pilings for the northeast boat launch ramp.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 13th
day of April, 1995.
