RESOLUTION NO. 95-041
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AMENDING THE PARKS RECREATION BUDGET,
ESTABLISHING A CAPITAL PROJECT FUND TO FUND CAMPGROUND
IMPROVEMENTS INCLUDING WATER AND ELECTRIC HOOK-UPS AND
APPROPRIATING FUNDS
WHEREAS, individual councilmembers and the public have requested project proposals
to improve municipal campgrounds in order to increase profitability and service to customers who
use RV utility hook-ups; and
WHEREAS, a budget amendment ill FY 1995 would allow for the realization of
increased revenues in FY 1996; and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Department proposes to install a full-service
campground section that includes water and electric hook-ups and picnic tables for 20 RV sites
along the beach in the vicinity of Madison Street; and
WHEREAS, the total cost of the project is $26,000, and an annual operating budget
increase of $6,500 will cover the cost of utilities, maintenance and personnel; and
WHEREAS, the amount requested to physically install the services is $20,000 which
includes $10,000 for contracted electrical work, $5,000 for city staff water plumbing and $5,000
for picnic tables; and
WHEREAS, the cost of the project will be recovered within two years through collection
of campground fees at $15.00 per night;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The Parks and Recreation Mini-Service Campground Fund, No. 303-3030-
XXXX, is hereby established to fund campground improvements.
Section 2. The sum of $20,000 is hereby appropriated from increased General Fund
Campground Revenues, Account No. 101-0000-4470-0120 as follows: $10,000 is appropriated
to the Contract Services Account No. 303-3030-5390 and $10,000 is appropriated to the
Maintenance Account No. 303-3030-5380.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
