CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
ORDINANCE NO. 95-08
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AMENDING TABLE 15.10.225,
LAND USES ALLOWED, REGARDING TRANSIENT MERCHANTS
DURING THE FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATION
WHEREAS, the current Zoning Code requires transient merchants to obtain a
Conditional Use Permit from the Planning Commission prior to operating within the City
of Seward; and
WHEREAS, the City of Seward traditionally allows the Chamber of Commerce to
conduct and manage transient vendor operations within the Central Business District;
and
WHEREAS, it is in the public interest to waive a requirement that the Chamber
obtain a CUP for this annual activity;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA HEREBY ORDAINS that:
Section 1. Table 15.10.225 of the Seward Zoning Code is hereby amended by
adding a footnote to exclude transient merchants operating in the Central Business
District during the annual Fourth of July celebration from the requirement that a
Conditional Use Permit be obtained, provided that such use is limited to three days
before and three days after the holiday.
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days following its enactment.
ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, this
22nd day of May, 1995.
