RESOLUTION NO. 95-077
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, ACCEPTING AND APPROPRIATING CAPITAL
IMPROVEMENT FUNDS FOR THE SEWARD COMMUNITY JAIL
WHEREAS, the National Institute of Corrections and the Governor's Task Force
on Community Jails determined that there were certain deficiencies within the Seward
Jail needing immediate improvementj and
WHEREAS, the Department of Corrections has agreed to fund the following
improvements:
Install insulated entry doors at Adams Street ................ $3,500
Provide radios to each of the officers ....................... 3,000
Remodel kitchen area .................................. 2,500
and
WHEREAS, in order to receive funding for these projects, the City must submit
a signed contract to Department of Corrections no later than June 30, 1995;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The sum of $9,000 is hereby accepted from the Alaska Department of
Corrections for improvements within the Seward Community Jail, and the City Manager
is hereby authorized to execute an agreement for receipt of the funds.
Section 2. Community Jail Account No. 101-0000-4350-0170 (Revenues) and Jail
Expense Account No. 101-121l-5XXX are each increased in the amount of $9,000.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect July 1, 1995.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this
26th day of June, 1995.
