RESOLUTION NO. 86-68
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, APPIDVING A SOLE SOURCE CONTRACT FOR
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES ill J. R. SALZER, DBA SHIPImi
INTERNATIONAL, INC., FOR CONCEPIUAL DESIGN OF SHIP REPAIR FACILITY
WHEREAS, Section 10-8 of the Seward City Code specifies
certain procedures to be followed when procuring goods and services; and
WHEREAS, Section 10-8 (e) and 10-8 (g) state that those restric-
tions and provisions do not apply to contracts for individual services
requiring special knowledge and judgrrent or professional services; and
WHEREAS, planning and developing criteria for the Seward
Marine Industrial Center ship repair facility requires special knowledge
and judgment and professional services, and any delay in beginning
design of the facility will be costly and could result in loss of a
major ship repair contract for state owned vessels; and
WHEREAS, J. R. Salzer has the special knowledge and judgment
and is highly recOllIleI1ded by respected firms in the ship repair field;
New, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The public interest would best be served by
awarding a contract to J. R. Salzer, dba Shiptech International, Inc.,
without benefit of public bid.
Section 2. The aITOunt of the contract to be awarded shall not
exceed Eighty-Five Thousand Dollars ($85,000.00).
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect irnrediately.
