CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 86-82
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROVING A LIST OF FIRMS PREQUALIFIED
TO BID TO PERFORM DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF TRANSFER
FACILITIES FOR THE SHIPLIFT IN THE SEWARD
MARINE INDUSTRIAL CENTER
WHEREAS, Section 10.8 of the Seward City Code was
amended to permit prequalification of bidders; and
WHEREAS, Letters of Interest were solicited by public
advertisement in nationwide newspapers from firms desiring
to be prequalified to bid for the design and manufacturing
of a mechanical system for transferring ships of up to 300
feet in length between shore berths and a drydock; and
WHEREAS, seven firms submitted letters of interest,
including Underwater Construction, Inc., who submitted its
letter after the stated deadline for acceptance of letters;
and
WHEREAS, the instructions for Letters of Interest
stated that Letters of Interest received after the stated
deadline may be returned unopened; and
WHEREAS, all bid proposals will be evaluated on their
merits which include proposed design, manufacture of compo-
nents and qualification of firms and subcontractors as well
as cost;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The Letter of Interest submitted by Under-
water Construction, Inc., will be accepted.
Section 2. The following named firms are qualified to
submit bid proposals for the project to design and manufac-
ture a mechanical system for transferring ships up to 300
feet in length between shore berths and a drydock:
Pearlson Engineering Company
Kenmark Industries
Frank Moolin Associates
Superstructure, Inc./Oteco
Hyundai Corporation/Peratrovich, Nottingham and
Drage/Construction Rigging

Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immedi-
ately upon its adoption.
