CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 86-93
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, CO~~ENDING THE CITIZENS OF SEWARD
FOR THEIR ACTIONS DURING THE FLOOD DISASTER
WHEREAS, the City of Seward received heavy flooding on
October 10-11, 1986; and
WHEREAS, as a result of the flood, the City sustained
millions of dollars of damage to public and private proper-
ty; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor of Seward and the Governor of Alaska
declared a state of disaster for the Seward area; and
WHEREAS, the cooperative spirit and readiness to
respond to the emergency needs of the City and its residents
which was displayed by the citizens of Seward, employees of
the City of Seward, and others prevented additional damage
to property and/or persons;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City of Seward will be forever grateful
to the citizens of Seward and others who responded to the
community's needs during the flood disaster.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immedi-
ately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, this ~ day of October , 19 86 .
