CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 95-087
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AWARDING A MATERIALS CONTRACT
FOR REPLACEMENT OF "X" FLOAT TO URESCO
CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS, INC.
WHEREAS, in 1990, the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities
(DOT/PF) developed an inventory condition survey of Alaska's port and harbor facilities;
and
WHEREAS, this study identified $9 Million of replacement costs in the City of
Seward's harbor facilities; and
WHEREAS, "X" Float was given the highest priority for replacement because of the
potential for failure of the dock; and
WHEREAS, the City Council previously approved a transfer of responsibilities
agreement (TaRA) with DOT/PF for funding to replace "X" Float; and
WHEREAS, the City properly advertised a request for proposals for materials
needed for the replacement of "X" Float; and
WHEREAS, URESCO Construction Materials, Inc., submitted the lower of the two
bids received in response to the City's RFP;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. A materials contract in an amount not to exceed $366,330 for the "X"
Float replacement project is hereby awarded to URESCO Construction Materials, Inc.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this
24th day of July, 1995.
