CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 87-013
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF COPIER EQUIPMENT
WHEREAS, the city currently owns a XEROX 8200 copier;
and
WHEREAS, since the purchase of this copier, the city's
copying needs have increased dramatically; and
WHEREAS, the XEROX 8200 is experiencing increasing
maintenance problems and "down time"; and
WHEREAS, the unreliability of the XEROX 8200 adversely
affects the efficiency and productivity of the city adminis-
tration; and
WHEREAS, the administration has investigated and
assessed two large-volume copiers currently on the market --
the XEROX 1075 and the IBM 85; and
~""'HEREAS, the XEROX 1075 incorporates a more advanced
technology than the IBM 85 and more nearly meets the needs
of the type of copying services required by the adminis-
tration; and
WHEREAS, the city's large volume copier will be used
chief ly by the City Clerk's department for council-related
copying; and
WHEREAS, during periods of heavy use by the Clerk's
department, such as agenda preparation, the copier is
unavailable to other departments of the city; and
WHEREAS, when the copier is in need of service, the
city must rely on the coin-operated, public use copier or,
for large volume copying, must take city documents outside
city hall for copying at AVTEC; and
WHEREAS, the purchase of a small copier would eliminate
the need to go off-premises for copying; and
WHEREAS, the city has received a proposal from The
Office for the purchase of a Ricoh 5070 for the amount of
$8373; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
approve a 3-year lease/purchase agreement with XEROX,
attached and incorporated herein by reference, for the
purchase of a XEROX 1075 Marathon Copier.
