CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 87-016
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A 25-FOOT
CHALLENGER FOR USE AS A WATERBORNE AMBULANCE IN THE
SMALL BOAT HARBOR AND AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF
CERTAIN HARBOR RESERVE FUNDS TO EFFECT THIS PURCHASE
WHEREAS, the city of Seward has received a state grant
for the purchase of a waterborne ambulance; and
WHEREAS, all state grant funds which remain unencum-
bered as as July 1, 1987, will revert back to the state of
Alaska; and
WHEREAS,

WHEREAS, because of the specialized requirements of an
emergency response vessel, it is desirable to seek a sole
source bid for the vessel; and
WHEREAS, the current balance of the state grant totals
$58,500; and
WHEREAS, an additional $11,811.92 will be required to
effect the purchase; and
WHEREAS, these funds are available in the Harbor
Reserve Account;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The public interest would best be served by
waiving the bid requirements set forth in Section 10-8 of
the City Code for the purchase of a public safety waterborne
ambulance.
Section 2. The city manager is hereby authorized to
appropriate the sum of $11,811.92 from the Harbor Reserve
Fund for the purchase of the emergency vessel.
Section 3. The city manager is further authorized to
approve the purchase of a 25-foot Challenger Boston Whaler
from Alaska Mining & Diving for a total price of $70.311.92.

Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immedi-
ately upon its adoption.
