CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 87-026
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, IN SUPPORT OF ADDITIONS TO CAINES
HEAD STATE RECREATION AREA
WHEREAS, the city of Seward has passed and approved
Resolution No. 85-112, supporting and encouraging develop-
ment of Caines Head State Recreation Area; and
WHEREAS, the land adjacent to the north end of the Park
would best serve the Recreation Area by providing access to
the Park by trail; and
WHEREAS, the land known as Tonsina Point is becoming an
attractive visitor destination for camping, fishing, picnic-
ing, hiking and other recreational pursuits; and
WHEREAS, this additional

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The city of Seward supports and encourages
the addition of the adj acent state lands north of Caines
Head State Recreation Area for the following reasons:
1. The local economy stands
and activity by the development
within Resurrection Bay; and
to gain improved commerce
of visitor destinations
2. The tourism industry continues to grow and develop
in the Seward area, generating revenues beneficial to the
local businesses and residents of Seward.
