CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 87-061
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, WAIVING CERTAIN BIDDING PROCEDURES
AND AWARDING A CONTRACT TO RESTORE THE GRAVEL PIT
ROAD ACROSS JAPP CREEK, DSR #3402
WHEREAS, the access road across
city's sand storage bunkers and gravel
during the October 1986 flood; and
Japp Creek to the
pit was washed out
WHEREAS, DSR #3402 provides FEMA funding to restore
this road; and
WHEREAS, Japp Creek is at the lowest possible flow and
the restoration work must be accomplished as quickly as
possible to enable working in a dry creekbed; and
WHEREAS, all local contractors having the equipment
needed to accomplish this project have been invited to
submit a cost proposal to do this work; and
WHEREAS, notice to bid was publicly posted;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. This public interest would best be served
by waiving the requirement for advertising the notice to bid
in a newspaper for two weeks prior to receiving bids.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
award a contract to Metco, Inc., in an amount not to exceed
SIX THOUSAND AND NO/lOOTHS DOLLARS ($6,000) plus a contin-
gency amount of SIX HUNDRED AND NO/lOOTHS DOLLARS ($600) for
a total project amount of SIX THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED AND
NO/lOOTHS DOLLARS ($6,600).
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immedi-
ately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, this 20 day of July , 19 87 .
