CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 87-062
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE DISPOSAL OF QUARRY
ROCK TO D & L CONSTRUCTION COMPANY
WHEREAS, D & L Construction Company has requested to
purchase approximately 200 cubic yards of rock from the
Seward Fourth of July Quarry; and
WHEREAS, there is a large quantity of undersized rock
left over after separating the Class II and larger rip rap
stone; and
WHEREAS, this rock is surplus to the city's foreseeable
needs; and
WHEREAS, there is no market to compete for the sale of
a small quantity of rock and the quoted price appears to
represent a reasonable market value; and
WHEREAS, no local firm is in the business of manufac-
turing and providing similar "shot rock";
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The undersized rock is found to be surplus
to the city's needs.
Section 2. Be it further resolved that the public
interest would best be served by not requiring competitive
bidding for this small quantity of quarry rock.
Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
sell approximately 200 cubic yards of quarry rock to D & L
Construction Company for a price of $5 per cubic yard.
Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immedi-
ately upon its adoption.
