CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 87-098
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES
AGREEMENT FOR PRELIMINARY DESIGN AND COST ESTIMATE
FOR THE NORTH BULKHEAD CARGO DOCK
WHEREAS, Section 10-8 of the Seward City Code allows
the award of a contract for professional services without
full utilization of the city's bid procedures; and
WHEREAS, on October 6, 1987, the voters approved a $2.1
Million general obligation bond issue for the design and
construction of a cargo dock to be located at the North
Bulkhead of the Seward Marine Industrial Center; and
WHEREAS, the city wishes to proceed with the design of
the North Bulkhead Cargo Dock as soon as possible; and
WHEREAS, Peratrovich, Nottingham and Drage, Inc., has
extensive experience in the design of docks, wharves and
harbors in the state of Alaska; and
WHEREAS, Peratrovich, Nottingham and Drage, Inc., has
performed various design projects for the city of Seward and
are familiar with the conditions which are indigenous to the
area; and
WHEREAS,
responded to
design of the
peratrovich, Nottingham and Drage, Inc.,
the city's request for a proposal for the
North Bulkhead Cargo Dock; and
WHEREAS, Peratrovich, Nottingham and Drage, Inc., did
the initial design sketch and estimate which was the basis
for the bond proposition on the October 6, 1987, ballot; and
WHEREAS, peratrovich, Nottingham and Drage, Inc., has
agreed to complete Design Item No. 1 for a fixed fee of
$20,000;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The city manager is authorized to execute a
professional services agreement with Peratrovich, Nottingham
and Drage, Inc., for Design Item No.1, North Bulkhead Cargo
Dock, for a fixed fee of $20,000.

Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immedi-
ately upon its adoption.
