RESOLUTION NO. 87-107
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, ESTABLISHING RATES FOR GARBAGE AND
REFUSE REMOVAL SERVICES FOR THE PERIOD COMMENCING
JANUARY 15, 1988
WHEREAS, the city of Seward has accepted the bid of
Seward Services for garbage and refuse removal services
within the city of the contract period beginning January 1,
1988 and ending December 31, 1988; and
WHEREAS, Section 12-19 of the Seward City Code requires
garbage and refuse charges to be fixed by resolution;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. Garbage and refuse removal service charges
for the period commencing January 15, 1988, shall be estab-
lished by class as follows:
CLASS 1. BUSINESS:
Monthly rates for businesses, including dentists,
physicians and clinics, shall be as follows:

The monthly rate for offices (wastepaper only) with one
pickup per week shall be $5.00 for the first can and $3.00
for each additional can.
CLASS 2. RESIDENCE (Weekly Collection):
The monthly rates for single family residences shall be
as follows:

Monthly rates for apartments (more than two units
having cornman cans) shall be as follows:
Individual billing
(Central pickup)
Single (landlord) billing
(Central pickup)
** Apartment pack-out service
$ 9.15 per unit

In addition to regular charge
** All residential pack-out service shall be at the dis-
cretion of the garbage contractor. All cans must be easily
accessible and within a reasonable distance from the alley,
street, or utility easement. All pickups inside a fenced
area shall be considered a pack-out service.
CLASS 3. SPECIAL SERVICES:
In the event the city or the contractor is requested to
enter the customer's property and/or premises to remove
garbage, except residential pack-out serVlce, such service
may be performed and the charge shall be twenty-five percent
(25%) over the regular rate.
CLASS 4. VACANT OR UNOCCUPIED DWELLINGS AND/OR RESIDENCES:
There shall be no charge for residences that are
vacant. Prior arrangements shall be made with the city by
making written application for garbage service to be discon-
tinued because of vacancy, provided the residence is unoc-
cupied three (3) weeks or longer in anyone (1) month.
CLASS 5. MUNICIPAL SERVICE:
The municipal service rate shall be $1.00 per can.
CLASS 6. TIME AND EQUIPMENT RATES:
The hourly rate for equipment and men shall be as
follows:
One truck and one man
One truck and two men
$56.15/hour
84.50/hour
Special pickups after 5:00 p.m. and before 8:00 a.m.
and anytime on Saturday, Sunday or holidays will be charged
at 1.5 times the regular daily rate.
Minimum charge shall be one-half hour at the rate which
applies.

CLASS 7. CONTAINER SERVICE:
The container service rate shall be as follows:

4.0 cu. yd. 15.25 per pickup
8.0 cu. yd. 24.50 per pickup
***30.0 cu. yd. 99.80 per pickup
*** Rol1-on/Roll-off container service
Special pickups after 5:00 p.m. and before 8:00 a.m.
and anytime on a Saturday, Sunday or a holiday will be
charged at 1.5 times the regular daily rate.
Section 2. City of Seward Resolution No. 81-60 lS
hereby repealed.
Section 3. Rates set forth in this resolution shall
remain in effect until revised by further resolution.
Section 4.
