CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 95-099
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROVING PAYMENT NOT TO
EXCEED $20,335 TO SHIELDS PAVING FOR VARIOUS
EMERGENCY PAVING UPGRADES AND REPAIRS
WHEREAS, the State of Alaska entered into a contract with Shields Paving to pave Exit
Glacier Road; and
WHEREAS, the presence of a paving contractor and asphalt batch plant in close proximity
to the City has allowed the City to contract some emergency repairs and upgrades at considerable
cost savings to the City; and
WHEREAS, the City's first contact with the paving contractor was August 11, 1995, and
there was insufficient time prior to the onset of the work to meet with the Council and obtain
authorization to proceed; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager elected to proceed with the paving projects in order to take
advantage of the cost savings; and
WHEREAS, funds must now be appropriated to pay the contractor for the work performed;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to issue payment to Shields Paving in the
amount of $20,335, charging various City Maintenance and Repair Accounts as follows:

Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
