Sponsored by: Schaefermeyer CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION NO. 88-011 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, REDEFINING THE DOWNTOWN HISTORIC DISTRICT WHEREAS, the goals and benefits of historic preserva- tion and historic districts have been endorsed by city of Seward Ordinance No. 519; and WHEREAS, criteria for historic districts have been Resolution No. 84-84; and selection and designation of established in city of Seward WHEREAS, the Seward Downtown Historic District was defined in city of Seward Resolution No. 84-85, to encompass an area bordered on the South by Resurrection Bay, on the East by Sixth Avenue, on the North by Adams Street, and on the West by Third Avenue; and WHEREAS, this area excluded several important histor- ical buildings in the downtown area, including the Van Gilder Hotel, the Swetman House, the Rae Building, the old Oddfellows Hall (SLAC Building), the old Catholic Church, the Lutheran Church, and the Methodist Church; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: Section 1. The Downtown Historic District is hereby redefined as that area in downtown Seward bordered on the South by Resurrection Bay, on the North by Jefferson Street, on the East by Sixth Avenue, and on the West by Third Avenue, and includes the Ferry Terminal Building. Section 2. Resolution No. 84-85 is hereby rescinded. Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immedi- ately upon its adoption.
